Project Overview
The Social Security Administration (SSA) wanted to enhance its online disability and retirement services by improving security, usability, and fraud prevention features. Our team worked with Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and CSRA to modernize and innovate SSA’s e-services.
The collaboration led to developing a self-service portal integrated with predictive modeling to detect and prevent fraudulent activities. We utilized advanced data analytics and a robust technology stack from IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon to develop a secure, scalable, and efficient solution.
The Challenges
One significant challenge was detecting and preventing fraud while maintaining usability. The SSA’s mission was to provide secure and reliable disability and retirement services, as every public member relies on them.
As the agency’s e-services grew, providing easy, secure, and reliable access to SSA’s services to every citizen became crucial to reducing fraud and abuse.
The agency sought a partner to streamline business processes and reduce fraud while expanding service channels.
The Solution
Our team worked with government leaders as technology advisors for the Retirement and Disability Modernization efforts. We helped design and develop a new self-service portal for citizens.
The team also helped improve the fraud and abuse detection and prevention process. We made the new process efficient and more effective by implementing modern data analytics and predictive modeling to identify high-risk transactions.
We used IBM, Microsoft, and Amazon for product development, as the tech stack was also suitable for providing security and scalability and addressing the SSA’s current and future needs.
The Impact
The agency has successfully launched the Retirement and Disability Service through its mySocialSecurity portal. More than 32 million users have registered to utilize SSA’s e-services!
