Danone faced challenges with fragile, one-way integration between its SAP ERP system and other COTS packages, causing inefficiencies and requiring extensive debugging.
How we Helped
Enterprise64 implemented a seamless and scalable integration using the Baker Middleware platform, custom microservice wrappers, and a new workflow management system.
Enhanced business process efficiency and reliability across Danone’s operations.
Project Overview
The client required seamless integration for its existing business systems with its SAP ERP system, addressing long-standing issues with fragile, one-way connections between SAP and other COTS packages.
Our team created and delivered a seamless, scalable, and error-free integration utilizing Baker, a proprietary Middleware platform, along with custom-built microservice wrappers and a new workflow management system.
The solution assured uninterrupted business operations and delivered an end-to-end integration strategy, greatly improving the overall efficiency and reliability of Danone’s business processes.
Challenge
One of the biggest challenges was to integrate existing business systems with SAP. Danone’s ERP system, SAP, was implemented before micro-services were considered mainstream.
Integration of SAP and the rest of the COTS (Commercial off the Shelf) packages was fragile, one-way, and prone to issues that required hours to debug. With business growing rapidly, this needed to be addressed urgently.
The Solution
Our team worked with business and technical leaders and created a strategy that provided end-to-end integration. We enabled business process transactions to seamlessly integrate throughout the enterprise using a flexible Middleware product, Baker, and custom-build microservice wrappers on existing code.
A new workflow management system was also implemented, creating a scalable, unified process.
Tools & Technology Stack
The Middleware component leveraged Baker, a proprietary integration platform that allowed us to start incorporating disparate APIs into a seamless workflow rapidly. Process integration was achieved through custom APIs, platform APIs, SAP Enterprise Messaging, and Webhooks to maximize flexibility and scalability.
A custom web interface was also created to provide easy management of the end-to-end workflow and reporting.
